Working with Local & Remote Sites
When you are finished editing a web page on the local site,
in order for it to be viewed by visitors of your site, you'll need to
transfer the files to the remote site. Transferring files between your local
and remotes sites is a simple process in Dreamweaver. You have the option of
transferring one file or many files. This document includes instructions on
the following:
NOTE:
This document assumes you have defined a local and
remote site. For information on defining a local and remote site, see
Defining Local & Remote Sites.

Synchronizing
the Local & Remote Sites
Sometimes it may be difficult to remember whether or not the
most current version of a web page is on the remote site. For example, you
may be in the process of updating numerous pages within your site. After you
are finished updating the pages, you may not remember which ones you copied
to the remote site. To ensure that all pages on the remote site are the most
recent, you can synchronize your local and remote sites. Synchronizing
copies all files from the local site to the remote site.
WARNING:
Most local sites contain web pages that are
incomplete and in progress; you do not
want these files to be included in the synchronization process. Before
synchronizing your local and remote sites, it is recommended that you cloak
your incomplete and in progress web pages. Files that are cloaked are
excluded from site-wide operations, such as synchronization. For more
information on cloaking, see
Excluding Files from Site Operations.
