return to topSynchronizing the Local & Remote Sites

Sometimes it may be difficult to remember whether or not the most current version of a web page is on the remote site. For example, you may be in the process of updating numerous pages within your site. After you are finished updating the pages, you may not remember which ones you copied to the remote site. To ensure that all pages on the remote site are the most recent, you can synchronize your local and remote sites. Synchronizing copies all files from the local site to the remote site.

WARNING: Most local sites contain web pages that are incomplete and in progress; you do not want these files to be included in the synchronization process. Before synchronizing your local and remote sites, it is recommended that you cloak your incomplete and in progress web pages. Files that are cloaked are excluded from site-wide operations, such as synchronization. For more information on cloaking, see Excluding Files from Site Operations.

  1. In the Files pane, select the Site tab

  2. From the Site menu, select Synchronize...
The Synchronize Files dialog box appears.
