The Three Main Reasons for having a Website
by Lanie Smith
http://www.877webteam.com
No matter what anyone tells you there are THREE and
I mean THREE reasons every company must have a Website. You
must think of these THREE reasons in this order.
1. Increase the company's profitability!
2. Increase the company's profitability!!!
3. Increase the company's profitability!!!!!!
If you DO NOT view your Website with this vision in mind
there is no reason to have a Website.
If you are thinking about having your Website designed or
updating and existing site with the company~s profitability
in mind, you must offer THREE things to your existing
customers and potential customers.
1. The best possible product or service available in
today's market place!
2. Customer service that is above and beyond your
customer~s expectations!!!
3. A reason to return to your Website to purchase
additional products or services!!!!!!
OK!!
1. You have made the decision to have a new Website
designed or update your existing site.
2. You have spent your company~s hard earned dollars on
a Website that has been well designed by a professional
Website Design company.
3. It has been on the Internet for several months but
has not produced any new sales for your products, or
increased sales for your services.
At this point a lot of company's make a FATAL MISTAKE. They
say to themselves, the Internet is nothing but a lot of
hype and a well-executed scam. That is something we here
all the time in the Internet market around the country.
There is nothing that could be farther from the truth.
If this has happened to your company~s Website you have
left out the Two most important component of doing business
(on and off the Internet).
MARKETING, and PROMOTION
Do not even consider the well-known phrase ~Build it and
they will come~ when dealing with the Internet. It may work
with a Baseball Stadium but it certainly will not work with
a Website (not ANY Website).
After your Website has been designed and has been placed on
the Internet it is imperative to do the following so you
drive QUALIFIED, yes I said QUALIFIED traffic to your
Website. You may have thousands of visitors come to your
Website but if they are not looking for your products or
services they are just taking up space and time.
1. You must have a well-designed MARKETING and PROMOTION
plan that will drive traffic to your site.
2. Have a very efficient TRACKING SYSTEM to monitor your
traffic. I cannot stress this feature enough.
Continue reading and we will explain what the Two above
Items will do for you and why they are important.
Have a well designed MARKETING and PROMOTION plan in place
that will drive quality traffic to your site and
consistently work on it.
1. Register your Website with the Major Search Engines.
On average 82% of FIRST time visitors to your Website will
come to you by Search Engines.
2. Find all the Highly-Targeted Directories and Search
Engines for your market, and then work on getting listed.
3. If your site is specific to a local area, be sure to
get listed in ALL Local Directories.
4. Pay Per Click Search Engines are a good way to drive
instant QUALIFIED traffic to your Website for just a few
dollars.
5. Link popularity is very important to get a top
listing in some Major Search Engines so start your very own
link exchange program. (View our link pages by going to

6. Use Autosponders to follow-up with your prospects.
7. Make good time of Referral Marketing.
8. Always use a Signature File on every email you send.
9. In your Marketing Strategy, market to a TARGETED
audience. For example if you sell Landscaping Supplies
there is no reason to market to people whom live in
apartments.
10. If your Marketing Strategy is not working, change
your strategy.
11. Think about writing a monthly News Letter that your
viewers can opt in to receive each month.
12. Run classified adds in the major Search Engines
classified add section.
13. Remember off line Promotion. Put your WWW on every
piece of paper that leaves your office. This includes such
things as Stationary, Business Cards, Invoices, Checks, Etc.
14. If you are selling products it is a must to accept
Credit Cards online.
15. Run News Paper, Magazine, Radio, and T V ads. They
can be a lot less expensive than you think.
16. One of the MOST Important online Promotion Keys is
to use the correct Keywords. Remember each of your Web
Pages should have its own page specific Keywords.
The above list is VERY basic but VERY important. Once you
have implemented the above ideas you can get more detailed
and specific for your industry.
Have a well-designed TRACKING system for monitoring your
traffic. You may be asking your self what is a tracking
system. A traffic system will monitor the traffic that
comes to your site and fine tune your site for better
traffic results.
Below are things that you should look for when you review
your tracking systems stats. This total list may be a
little overwhelming in the beginning but if used in the
correct manor your company will benefit from it immensely.
Just think if you have a person that advertises on your
site, you will be able to tell them exactly how many times
someone viewed his page and also how he got to that
particular page. Wouldn~t it be helpful to find out what
keywords people are using to get to your site. With this
information you could fine-tune your keywords for each page
to drive more traffic your way.
1. General Statistics
2. Top PagesTop Documents

All the above stats listed will normally come with written
explinations of what each means and also have a flow chart
you can view instead of just viewing a list of numbers.
By following the above basic procedures you will start to
get a steady flow of traffic coming to your Website and if
you continue fine tuning the site you will soon find that
your site is starting to make you money.
